Lubusz Lakeland

lubuszLocated in the western part of the country, not far from the German border within the Odra and Nysa Luzycka valleys, Lubuskie Lakeland is a region with an extensively diversified landscape. The highest summits, that of the Zarskie Hills (227 m), rise in the south, while the Odra valley is occupied by the lowest fragments at 25 m above sea level. The large number of lakes and rivers make Lubuskie Lakeland an ideal destination for people who love all kinds of water sports, especially canoeing.

Gorzow Wielkopolski is a major urban centre in the vicinity of Lubuskie Lakeland. The closest international airports are located in Poznan and Wroclaw. Gorzow does have an airport (in Babimost, some 35 km to the north-east), but it only offers regional flights. There are flights on a daily basis from Warsaw to Zielona Gora. No direct flights are available from Krakow, Poznan or Wroclaw – they are all routed through Warsaw. However, there are direct trains from Poznan, Wroclaw, Warsaw and Krakow for those who choose not to travel by air or car.
