Observe wildlife on a boat trip The Narew region offers opportunities to take a trip in a special boat, rather like a gondola, as used by local inhabitants for centuries to fish and transport hay. This particular attraction is available in Uhowo, Lapy and Kurowo.
Canoe The curved branches of the Narew River form excellent and interesting conditions for canoeing, and while sailing you may observe various wild birds and animals. There are two main trails: a 2-3-day long one along the whole park and the shorter one around Kurowo. It is advisable to use guides, as it is easy to get lost in the river meanders. Canoes can be rented in Bialystok, Kurowo, Suraz, Lapy and Uhowo.
Cycle During a cycling trip around Narwianski National Park you will have the occasion to see some historical sights and enjoy the peaceful and beautiful landscape. There are four trails of different lengths, and bike rental is available too.
Hike Several hiking trails within the National Park borders make a perfect excuse for an active holiday, especially for people who want to explore this wild region deeper. The trails run through the most picturesque areas of the park, linking Bialystok with Tykocin, Choroszcz, Kurowo, Lapy and other towns and villages.
Visit Tykocin The sleepy, charming and small town of Tykocin is located a little north of the park and is really worth a visit, not only for its impressive synagogue but also for its picturesque market square and unique atmosphere. In nearby Choroszcz there is an interesting palace of the Branicki family.
Observe storks This region, as well as Masuria, is known for the huge number of storks that nest there. The best way to observe them is by visiting Pentowo, the European Village of Storks, where several families of these birds make their nests each year. In Pentowo you can also find a herd of Polish horses.
See the 17th century redoubt The “Koziolek” redoubt is an earthen defensive construction, erected during the Swedish-Polish wars in the 1650s, presumably by the Swedes when they captured nearby Tykocin. This historical attraction, surrounded by mystery, is located close to Kurowo. In nearby Kruszewo there is a broken bridge, blown up in 1939.
