Relax on the beach The clean and sandy beaches you can find along the whole length of the Vistula Spit form an irresistible lure for holiday-makers, particularly Krynica Morska, which has best-developed facilities. If you value tranquillity, then the other, smaller towns like Katy Rybackie, Sztutowo, Stegna or Piaski, are certainly worth attention.
Try delicious fresh fish Fish tastes best when you are at the seaside, where the fresh sea air and water increase your appetite. Freshly caught, either from the sea or a fresh water source, these include cod, flounder, eel, zander and perch, all of which are really delicious.
Visit reserve of cormorants In the forest near Katy Rybackie you can visit a reserve devoted to cormorants. This is the biggest population of this remarkable black, green-eyed bird anywhere in Europe. The reserve owes its moon-like landscape to the caustic droppings of the cormorants, which are enough to make trees and plants wither.
Visit the former concentration camp in Sztutowo A more recent history has also left its traces in the area. In Sztutowo, otherwise a simple seaside village, in 1939 the Nazis established a concentration camp known as Stutthof. Liberated in 1945, it now houses a museum presenting the history of the camp.
Take a narrow-gauge train trip Built in 1900 to link Mikoszewo with Sztutowo, this narrow-gauge railway operates during the summer season as a local attraction. “Speeding” at all of 25 km per hour, you can enjoy beautiful views of Zulawy Wislane and the sea.
Visit the mouth of the Vistula In Mikoszewo, the Vistula meets the sea through a wide channel. Interesting in itself, the area is also protected for the rare species of birds found there (“Mewia Lacha” reserve)
Have a hydrofoil trip to Frombork Cruises from Krynica to Frombork on a hydrofoil are a great attraction. You can visit one of the main towns of Warmia, a former site of Warmian bishops and where Nicolaus Copernicus lived for a long time a place. The cathedral hill has a mediaeval complex that includes a brick church, palaces and defensive walls, and all-in-all it is really imposing. The journey through the Vistula Lagoon takes about half an hour.
Sightsee the castle in Malbork In Malbork, a town of 40 000 in the Zulawy Wislane area, you can explore the imposing redbrick castle that is the biggest of its type in Europe. Built by the Teutonic Knights, it is a real “must” if you are in the area. Just one glance will make you understand what makes it a UNESCO site, and that is even before you discover the many attractions the interior hides.
Visit a Mennonite cemetery The village of Stogi Malborskie was once home to many Dutch settlers who arrived in the area in the 16th century. Very hard working and religious, they built many villages and meliorated the land. Their cemeteries can be found in Stogi Malborskie and Wirty, and there is also a church in Wroblewo and a windmill in Palczewo that are worth seeing.

Looking for amber is a great attraction for children, as well as those no longer so young. It is the easiest to find during the autumn and spring seasons or after a storm. The town of Jantar (literally “amber”) even organizes special contests for amber seekers. Jantar has another interesting place to visit, namely its ostrich farm.
