Sightsee Klodzko Land is known for its many unique attractions, including the old town in Klodzko itself with its fortress and underground labyrinths; the Chapel of Skulls in Czermna (part of Kudowa Zdroj); the 18th century fortress in Srebrna Gora or the famous basilica in Bardo.
Drop in local museums Why not visit one of local museums, like the Museum of Paper Making in Duszniki Zdroj, the Museum of Matches in Bystrzyca Klodzka, the old uranium mine in Kletno or the Museum of Underground Mining in Nowa Ruda. The village of Zloty Stok is home to the oldest gold mine in Poland, where you can enter and be shown around. A curiosity of this underground trail is a collection of old information signs with various warnings and appeals.
Visit places of pilgrimage There are two significant locations for the pursuit of the cult of the Virgin Mary in Klodzko Land: the Igliczna Mountain and the imposing basilica in Wambierzyce, the latter known as the Lower Silesian Jerusalem.
Ski The Klodzko Valley is a popular region for skiing, with the main ski resorts being Zieleniec in Orlickie Mountains, Jamrozowa Polana and Stronie Slaskie.
Cycle If you are a mountain bike rider, then you will find that this area is a paradise. Two international bicycle routes provide wonderful views of unspoiled beauty, leading through a diverse terrain with mountains of unusual shapes, woods and meadows.
Ride on horseback A perfect way to explore nature in the Klodzko Valley is by horseback (Ziemia Klodzka County Horse Riding Route). Picturesque horse riding trails will also take you to the remoter parts of the Sudety Mountains, especially the 360 km long Sudety Horse Riding Route.
Hike Of all the mountain ranges in the Sudety, the Stolowe Mountains boast the most extensive network of hiking routes. They cover an area of some 63 km2 and have a total length of 120 km. One section of the main Sudety route is the Mieczyslaw Orlowicz route, marked in red, and is particularly interesting in that it offers you the opportunity to see many of the notable attractions of the area: the Calvary foundations of Wambierzyce, the Rock Mushrooms, Szczeliniec (fissured rocks), Stary Rocka and Kudowa Zdroj.
Climb The specific nature of the rock formations make the Stolowe Mountains a good destination for climbers – the most favourable areas are Szczeliniec, Filary, Naroznik or Radkowskie Skaly. The rock walls here are only really suitable for experienced, qualified climbers.
Take care of your health Kudowa-Zdroj is one of the most popular health resorts, with its mineral water deposits. Other frequently visited resort are Duszniki-Zdroj, Polanica-Zdroj and Ladek-Zdroj, the latter being one of the oldest in Europe.
Explore Jaskinia Niedzwiedzia (the Cave of Bear) With 2.5 km of underground corridors, this is the longest cave of the Sudety Mountains and one of the most beautiful in Poland.
Make a short trip to Prague or Vienna Prague and Vienna are situated respectively 183 km and 323 km from Klodzko, making it closer to these two European capital cities than Warsaw.
BAMBINI
Children will enjoy a visit to the Museum of Frogs or Musuem of Toys (both in Kudowa-Zdroj). A trip to Trebechovice pod Orebem in the Czech Republic to see the collection of Christmas cribs might be a good idea, too. A great attraction for children is exploring the Cave of the Bear, where a skeleton of a prehistoric bear is displayed.
