One of the best ways to explore Bory Tucholskie is by canoe down the river Brda. Regarded as the most beautiful river to practise this sport in Europe, the Brda will enchant you while its surroundings, especially through the Tucholski and Zaborski Landscape Parks, will satisfy anyone’s need for nature.

Many lakes in Bory Tucholskie are excellent for fishing, thanks to the clean water, quiet setting and numerous fish species, including salmon, sheatfish, speckled trout, brook trout, carp, and pike. The river Wda is a well-known salmon river.

Walking through the thick woods you can fill your basket with mushrooms and a variety of forest fruits.

The beautiful landscapes of Bory Tucholskie make an ideal place to ride a horse. There are possibilities to ride horses in Wdzydze, Swornegacie, Dziemiany, Rytel, Zbeniny, Chrzastowko and other places.

Bory Tucholskie is crossed by several cycling trails – the longest lead from Bydgoszcz to Chojnice (blue trail) and from Tuchola to Bachorz (black trail).

Sailing is the most popular on the waters of Lake Charzykowskie and Lake Wdzydze. During the summer they become dotted with sailboats as well as motor boats, kayaks, and pedal boats.

This is the longest construction of this type in the country and it is modelled on roman aqueducts of antiquity. It is possible to cross the aqueduct via a special footbridge.

Located in Odry by the river Wda, Stone Circles is Poland’s only nature and archaeological reserve. The circles are as large as 15-33 m in diameter, and consist of one or two central stones surrounded by some boulders. Similar circles and prehistoric kurgans may be seen in Wesiory and Lesna.

If you want to experience something of the area, try visiting Ochotnica Dolna, Tylmanowa, Rabka or Nowy Targ to see their beautiful wooden churches, part of the Trail of Wooden Architecture. You can also visit a chapel on Jaworzyna Kamieniecka or drop in to the village museum in Rabka.
