Beskidy - Est

arrowHike
Within the three mountain ranges, you can find plenty of hiking trails of varying levels of difficulty. If you want to avoid great effort, try the lower and softer summits of the Beskid Niski (or take a cable car ride to the top of Jaworzynka). Higher summits can be found in the Beskid Sadecki and Wyspowy.

arrowCycle
The range of cycling trails is extensive, although they require some fitness, even if you use the marked paths. However, there are also many rural roads that are suitable for family groups or anyone just setting out on a cycling adventure.

arrowSightsee wooden churches
The whole region of the eastern Beskid is sprinkled with old wooden churches. Some of them are the remnants of former Orthodox Lemko communities that were later resettled in western Poland, while some are Catholic churches. Visit Haczow, Blizne, Sekowa or Binarowa to see the most interesting ones.

arrowExplore folk heritage
The region is known for its rich multicultural folk traditions that can be best explored in the open-air museum in Zyndranowa. The large exhibition of Lemko architecture, craft and art gives a unique insight into this fascinating and original ethnic group. Another similar attraction is the ethnographic park in Sanok.

arrowVisit historical sights
Among the “must see” sights are: the monastery of Szczyrzyc, the basilica of Limanowa and the Baroque church in Dukla. You should also visit the picturesque old towns of Stary Sacz and Biecz.

arrowRelax at a health resort
Famed for its mineral water deposits and clean mountain air, the Beskid Mountains continue to lure people who want to improve their health or to convalesce after an illness. Apart from the renowned resort of Krynica, dating back to the pre-war years, there are Piwniczna, Szczawnik, Zegiestow, Rytro, Muszyna, Rymanow and Iwonicz to choose from.

arrowRaft down a river
The Poprad River twists between the mild hills of the Beskid Sadecki, passing through several picturesque gorges. Raft trips are organised during the spring and summer seasons from Piwniczna, and make a great way of enjoying the spectacular views while having great fun.

arrowSki
Skiers can choose from among several winter resorts. The most popular are the Sucha Dolina Skiing Area near Piwniczna and the slopes of Jaworzyna in Krynica, but you can also try the runs on Magura Malastowska in the Beskid Niski or even Muszyna or Szczawnik. The whole area of the Eastern Beskid Mountains offers good conditions to practise cross-country skiing.

arrowWater sports
There are two artificial reservoirs in the Eastern Beskid Mountains. Both Lake Klimkowka near Uscie Gorlickie and Roznowskie close to Nowy Sacz allow you to try a number of enjoyable water sports, such as sailing, canoeing, swimming, ship cruises and fishing.

arrowPick berries and mushrooms
If you prefer something less physical and more restful as a break, the eastern ranges of the Beskid are ideal places for wandering through forests, picking forest fruits and wild mushrooms. Not spoilt by hordes of tourists, the area guarantees a really good time for the romantic and those who want to stray far from big city bustle.

children BAMBINI
There are many places that can be recommended as a destination for families with children. You could go to the Lake Roznowskie or Klimkowka, have a cable car trip to the top of Jaworzyna (in Krynica) or a raft trip from Piwniczna. A visit to one of the several open-air museums, such as the one in Sanok, Bobrka or Zyndranowa could fill in a day if combined with a picnic.
