Beskid Sadecki

arrowHike
Hiking is naturally what most people want to do when arrive in a mountainous district. The highest summit is Mt. Radziejowa (1262 m), but there are also plenty of other peaks over 1000 m, including Wielki Rogacz, Prehyba, Jaworzyna Krynicka, and Runek. Apart from the most challenging trails, there are also a number of easier ones – all dotted with mountain hostels.

arrowSightsee
The Beskid Sadecki means natural values, as well as many historical attractions such as the scenic old town with its cobbled square of Stary Sacz, or Nowy Sacz with its castle, basilica, open-air museum, monastery and Poland’s greatest collection of icons in the local museum. The village of Stroze boasts an unusual open-air museum of bee keeping, while the ever-present wooden orthodox churches are another characteristic element of the local landscape, especially in Andrzejowka, Maciejowa, Powroznik, Szczawnik, Zlockie, and Tylicz.

arrowEnjoy naïve art
Krynica-Zdroj has long been a very popular resort, and is also the home town of Nikifor, the great Polish primitive artist of the 20th century. His watercolours and drawings often featured his own town and its surroundings in a rather unreal way, and many examples can be seen in the Nikifor Museum, situated on the main street in Krynica.

arrowExplore Jewish heritage
The Beskid Sadecki has a great attraction for anyone really into Jewish culture. Bobowa was home to the famous tzaddik Shlomo Halberstam, and also has one of the best-preserved synagogues in Poland, built in 1756.

arrowVisit health resorts
This region features thermal waters that are drunk for their therapeutic benefits or bathed in. The most well-known health resort is Krynica, boasting a long, pre-war tradition as a spa town, but there are also many smaller ones in Piwniczna, Szczawnik, Zegiestow, Rytro, Lomnica Zdroj, and Muszyna.

arrowSki
The best skiing conditions can be found in Piwniczna (the Sucha Dolina skiing area) and Krynica on the slopes of Jaworzyna. Skiing can also be found in Muszyna or Szczawnik.

arrowEnjoy the panorama from a cable car
While in Krynica, take a trip to stand on the peak of Jaworzyna by the cable car. Open all year round, it guarantees beautiful views, no matter if the mountains are green, red with autumn beeches or covered with snow. There is also a funicular train that ascends to the top of Mt. Parkowa

arrowRaft trip
From April to October, visitors are welcome to try the raft trip along the Poprad River (starting in Piwniczna, finishing in Rytro). During this 2-hour adventure you can admire the scenic views on both sides of the Poprad gorge.
